What Nature Can Teach Us About Mental Health
The color of every emotion we may experience can be understood through nature. When we think of a sunny day, the essence of growth, happiness and warmth can be felt. When we think of a drought, we sense dryness, pain, thirst. These conditions are not opposite. Rather, they exist as different parts of the same cycle; the seasons.
The trees shed their leaves before a cold winter,
only to experience growth and renewal in the seasons of Spring and Summer. Indeed it can be easy to forget that the rain and storms in our minds are necessary for the growth and renewal that is concealed in our future.
Watch any plant or animal and let it teach you acceptance of what is. Witness the silent intelligence in how nature can embrace change without any resistance. Let it teach you being. Let it teach you integrity. To be one, to be yourself, to be real. Let it teach you how to live and how to die without making living and dying a problem. Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. Can this become your nature?
