This incredible photograph taken by our favorite birth storyteller @monetnicolebirths captures a mother and father sharing the moment of holding their child seconds after it is born. Our relationship with our significant other can serve as a form of training, discipline and a blessing that can help us to reach our ultimate potential. Our patience and endurance with our loved one serves to train the soul, to subdue our hard-headedness, and to improve our character. By striving for a harmonious relationship, a couple that navigates life together subjects themselves to various tests that can only be experienced within the confines of love. For example, the person that we love the most has the potential to provoke the most anger in us and to upset us in more ways than anyone else. Learning to bear these tests with patience while remaining respectful can sharpen our character. During hardships, our willingness to grow with our partner can improve our communication and intimacy while overriding our desires to let our anger get the best of us. Over time, a loving relationship can help to reveal to us our greatest shortcomings and can allow couples to work together as a team with the intention to turn these once perceived flaws / shortcomings into our strengths. With this in mind, let’s make the intention to endure the struggles of our relationship in a way that benefits us and the one we love the most!

“If your spouse is angry, you should be calm. When one is fire, the other should be water.”
