How Thinking Positively Affects Your Kidneys

This is a resin cast of the blood supply of the human kidneys, showing the dense network of capillaries arising from the renal artery. A positive mental attitude may be the most important quality for sound mental and physical health. When you teach yourself to think positively of any situation, you reduce the stress load your body carries. Coping with stress with a positive attitude decreases stress on your heart by lowering heart rate and allowing for your vessels to relax which decreases blood pressure. Your kidneys are one of the most sensitive organs to blood pressure changes. High blood pressure can damage blood vessels in the kidneys, reducing their ability to work properly. When the force of bloodflow is high, blood vessels stretch so blood flows more easily. Eventually, this stretching scars and weakens blood vessels throughout the body, including those in the kidneys. If the kidneys’ blood vessels are damaged, they may stop removing wastes and extra fluid from the body. This extra fluid may then raise blood pressure even more, creating a dangerous cycle. It is super fascinating to imagine that the way you think can affect this process for better or for worse.
