MEDspiration was founded by Navpreet Badesha, MD during his first year as a medical student, who is based out of Chicago, Illinois. Our Board of Directors is comprised of creative medical students and health professionals who are servant leaders of their respective communities.
Our mission — advancing human potential and promoting better mental, physical and spiritual health for our human family — will require a new approach for the fields of healthcare, education, medicine, energy, science and research.
We must make long term investments into health, medicine, science, research, and our planet over 25, 50 or even 100 years. The greatest challenges require very long time horizons and cannot be solved by short term thinking.
We must engage directly with the people we serve. We cannot empower people if we don’t understand the needs and desires of their communities.
We must build technology to make change. Many institutions invest money in these challenges, but most progress comes from productivity gains through innovation.
We must participate in policy and advocacy to shape debates. Many institutions are unwilling to do this, but progress must be supported by movements to be sustainable.
We must back the strongest and most independent leaders in each field. Partnering with experts is more effective for the mission than trying to lead efforts ourselves.
We must take risks today to learn lessons for tomorrow. We are early in our learning and many things we try will not work, but we will listen and learn and keep improving.
Together, we are a band of thinkers that can remove religion, race, gender and politics; and somehow come together to find solutions for a broken planet. We do, after all, have the resources as a civilization to build a utopia.
